Doing all right I guess for an old guy! wink All those crazy things we did "back in the day" is taking their toll. It's sad to see these guys slowly disappearing but, the good times we had will live on forever!!

I was at Clark from Oct84-Nov87 3rd ems phase docks f-4s. Ssgt John Brennan was a good friend of mine. I attended JBs funeral service in Orlando last month. John was killed in a home invasiaon robbery. John was a lead mechanic for AirTran and was looking forward to joining myself at Southwest Airlines. Another friend of mine passed last year in Atlanta he was a crew chief in red section 84-88 Ssgt. George Roberts. Many good memories from Clark and worked with a lot of good crew chiefs from the line while their aircraft visited the phase hangar. RIP John Brennan, Ed Gunn , Bob Grouell. Attened the Air show at Nellis and the highlight was the F-4 air demo heritage flight. Don Osteen , Las Vegas, Southwest Airlines graveyards line maintenance

Ed passed away on May 26 after a long bout with diabetes. I got an email from Nathan Holland. Ed lived in Earlville, Ill where he worked for the railroad until he could not handle the work any more and retired on disability several years ago. He was definitely a unique guy frown . I had the opportunity of working with Ed at several bases. frown

I am really surprised that no one mentioned the passing of Ed Kline who did several tours of Clark plus Korea.

Don Wednesday, 18 July 2012 22:21
Wow! I knew Ed. What happened when and how? You're the one that seems to know, why don't you or didn't you "mention it" so everyone knows?

It looks like we got out gunned by our Marxist Gov't on the fishing trip for this year. Red Snapper fishing has been prohibited but will be open from 1 June to 10 July, some idiot in DC thinks they know best. So naturally that means everything that floats is booked till 10 July. A couple of us are gonna go on a "party boat" Friday anyway but they tell me that's not the same as a dedicated charter boat. roll eyes (sarcastic)

Paul K. Pitts Sunday, 10 June 2012 21:13
“idiot in DC” I resemble that remark. Sorry I can’t take the blame for the fishing trip. The Government Agency that I work for deals with Aviation Safety.

Was stationed at Clark Air Base twice, 1976-1977 and 1983-1986, both times I was assigned as a F-4 Crew Chief in the 3rd AGS, 3rd AMU (Blue Section). I took another job transfer from Las Vegas, Nevada to Washington, DC in October 2011. I am able to travel back to Las Vegas periodically throughout the year. My health continues to slowly decline, I’m not sure what is going to happen first, retirement or the funeral home. The Government Agency that I work is very understanding with regards to my health issues, I have a desk job now, we‘ll see what happens in the future. Attended the Clark Air Base Reunions in Mexico Beach, Florida in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005. Many thanks to Don Swayne for keeping the Clark Air Base memories alive. Feel free to contact me at: PPitts3769@yahoo.com.

I was a dependent stationed with my ex-husband Guy Wilson at Clark AFB, 1981-1983. He worked 3rd Supply, fuels. I have been searching for a couple we were good friends with Rob and Brenda, I cannot remember their last name, just know that it started with an M. They had a baby girl named Melissa and she was pregnant during that time. I believe he worked at AGS, he was a mechanic. We had some great times at Clark, just wish I would of taken more pictures.

I received an email from Ed Brown that Chief Paul "Johnnie" Johnson passed away the Sunday before Christmas at the age of 75 after suffering a fatal heart attack. For those of you who knew Johnnie or his wife Fina and would like to send a card her contact info follows:

Fina Johnson
P.O. Box 631,
Athens, West Virginia
24712

A lot of us knew Chief Johnson from his time at Cairo West 80 & 81; 3d AGS Maint Super 81 to 83; and the 3d TFW DCM Superintendent for both COL Steve Long and COL Red Stewart from 83 to 85.

Some may even remember him from the afternoon staff meetings at Dave's Fook & Sook with Larry Slaughter, McCrackin, DZ and the crew.
